Chair’s Message

On behalf of the Lakehead Chapter of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), welcome to our website.

Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) licenses Ontario’s 70,000 professional engineers and authorizes businesses to provide engineering services to the public. It sets standards for and regulates engineering practice. Under the Professional Engineers Act, its statutory mandate is to serve and protect the public interest where engineering is concerned. Rigorously educated, experienced and committed to a Code of Ethics that puts the public first, licensed professional engineers can be identified by the “P.Eng.” after their names.

On our website, you will find the names of the executive members of the Lakehead Chapter, a list of sub-committees, recent newsletters and a listing of past and future events. For a sense of community our Chapter delivers educational outreach, technical, and social/sporting events to our membership.  We are the link between the association and its members and the public. Our annual events include National Engineering Week, a Golf Tournament, the Annual Engineering and Technology Conference and various tours and networking events. All Lakehead Engineers are welcome and encouraged to attend these events.

Lakehead Chapter’s primary function is to distribute and discuss information about policies and decisions made with respect to regulation of the engineering profession.  It offers a forum for its members to discuss issues of concern for engineers and society.

It remains our goal to plan and host events in an effort to promote the engineering profession within our community and give the public a better understanding of what engineers do and how they affect their lives.

With the establishment of the PEO’s Northern Regional Office at Lakehead University in 2003, PEO is now more visible and accessible for Northern Region Members. The office can be reached via phone at (807) 343-8345 or email at peonro@lakeheadu.ca.

We welcome all feedback. Please contact us via email at lakehead@peo.on.ca if you have an idea for an event, tour, or would like to volunteer for an existing event.  We are continually looking for volunteers to join the executive or to assist in events.

Thank you for visiting our website.
